Engineering Methodology
01. Computational Logic
Our engine utilizes the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory for determining deflection under static loads. Unlike standard calculators, we factor in the specific Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) for each wood species, adjusted for grain orientation relative to the load vector.
02. Data Sources
All physical properties (Janka Hardness, Crushing Strength, Specific Gravity) are derived from the USDA Forest Service Wood Handbook (Agriculture Handbook 72). Market pricing is updated via a static index reflecting North American hardwood averages.
03. Liability Disclaimer
The WoodEngineering platform serves as a theoretical simulation tool. While calculations are precise based on input data, natural variations in timber (knots, checks, moisture pockets) cannot be fully modeled. Always consult a licensed structural engineer for load-bearing architectural projects.
